This report refers to an action of the extension project carried out in a Basic Education school in the city of Nobres – MT developed by the Study and Research Group Oral Language, Reading and Writing in Childhood as a way of (re)thinking reading and writing from a discursive and dialogical perspective. The activities that fuel this writing are the result of an experience of the extension project “Flying on the wings of Manoel de Barros” with the aim of experiencing an ethical, aesthetic, sensitive and literary approach to reading and writing for children. A project based on the poetics of Manoel de Barros was planned, where the collaborating school approached this poet's literary production in a unique way. This first flight demonstrated that there is potential for new perspectives on the teaching-learning of reading and writing and that the involvement of children, the community and the school demonstrates great potential for more poetic practices to (trans)form the child reader and author.
Keywords: extension; reading; writing; poetry; (trans)formation.
