Abstract

One of the innovations in the development of social policies is the growing importance attributed to educational indicators, which act as a means of transforming society for the regional development of the municipality of Aparecida de Goiânia. The Basic Education Development Index (BEDI) is an educational indicator created in 2007 to help improve the quality of education. It analyzes reading, interpretation and logical reasoning. The aim of this study was to analyze, through the IDEB, the evolution of young students' performance in Mathematics and Portuguese in Aparecida de Goiânia. Through qualitative research and a literature review, the theme of quality in education for the regional development of Aparecida de Goiânia was examined in greater depth by analyzing the IDEB indices. Thus, people with the necessary knowledge and efficiency are better able to drive innovation and productivity, culminating in regional development.
