Consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic on the mental health of health professionals at a hospital in the Northern Plateau of Santa Catarina

Purpose: The main objective of this project was to study the impact of Covid-19 pandemic on the mental health of healthcare workers of a hospital in the northern plateau of Santa Catarina, Methods: Qualitative study that connected the pandemic to mental disorders, through questionnaires. All variables were grouped and analyzed. Results: It was found that the pandemic affected all the staff in different ways. Since the beginning of the pandemic in November 2019, the entire population has had to adapt to the new reality of distancing and prevention. One of the groups whose routines were affected was the healthcare workers, who, in addition needing to face something new from the scientific aspects, had to watch their colleagues and family members fall ill. All of this under severe physical and psychological stress. Conclusion: It was observed that all this exhaustion had a negative impact on the mental health of these professionals, leading to an increase in psychological disorders.
