This study aimed to bring theoretical and methodological contributions from ethnography, collective ethnography and the use of audiovisual resources (especially photographs) to enrich the construction of sociological portraits in Bernard Lahire. The proposed theoretical approach has the potential to facilitate the study of the place of origin, in the foreground, in the analysis and composition of sociological portraits; and to enhance the participation of the researched in the production of portraits. The approach to collective ethnography was made possible by i) the study of mobility in urban space, referring to the transits of young people in different fields of practice; ii) the involvement of the researched in ethnographic productions, from work in the field to the elaboration of reports; and iii) to include the study of mobility and spatialities in Lahire's dispositionalist studies. As for the use of audiovisual resources, they tend to expand the production of data in the field and bring the perspective of the researched themselves to the process.
Key words: ethnography; collective ethnography; photographs; sociological portraits.
