PROESDE: an approach between university and community

The PROESDE scholarship (Higher Education Program for Regional Development) is one of 7 types of active and tangible scholarships for undergraduate students residing in Santa Catarina and available at 74 Higher Education Institutions. This article aims to present general information about the scholarship recipients in 2022 and 2023. The methodology used is characterized as exploratory and descriptive research. Presenting information on the number of scholarship holders, undergraduate courses, amounts received, and activities developed by the scholarship modality. Among the results found, there is a prevalence of scholarship holders from 13 undergraduate courses, with the greatest representation being law and psychology courses, followed by physiotherapy and veterinary medicine. In 2022, 121 scholarship holders were awarded and for 2023 there were 99 scholarship recipients. The campus that presented the largest number of scholarship holders was Mafra, with 70 scholarship holders in 2023 and 42 scholarship holders in 2022. With 1-year scholarships, and values of up to R$2,200.00 (2022) and R$2,424.00 (2023) academics participated in university extension projects, such as Sala do Sabe and Jardim e a Infância. PROESDE is, without a doubt, a teaching, research and university extension project that provides the integration and experience of academics with the needs of the community in which they reside, in addition to contributing significantly to the academic's permanence and continuity in graduation, through the value of the scholarship received.
