Abstract

Visual Health is an area that raises questions of interest to Brazilian Public Health. The objective of the research was to characterize the sociodemographic profile and Visual/Ocular Health conditions of patients treated at the UNC Visual Health Clinic from 2003 to 2022. It consists of a descriptive, exploratory, documentary and bibliographic study. The results confirmed the predominance of females. In relation to the municipality of origin, the highest prevalence was found in the municipality of Canoinhas. Refractive errors were the most prevalent visual changes. The predominant binocular vision dysfunctions were non-strabismic dysfunctions, in young patients and adults aged 20 to 39 years, and strabismic dysfunctions in adults aged 40 to 59 years and the elderly. It was evident that, at all ages, there was a higher prevalence of suspected pathologies of the anterior segment of the human eye. It is concluded that it was possible to fulfill the proposed objectives and contribute to the knowledge of the visual/ocular health situation of the population of Amplanorte.
